In March 2015, China issued a document entitled “Vision and Actions on Jointly Building Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road”, outlining the development ideas and blueprint of the Belt and Road Initiative. The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) encompasses more than 60 countries spanning Asia, Europe and Africa. The potential of these emerging markets could be the engine of global growth in coming decades. Singapore supports the BRI.

In 2016 the Silk Road Business Leadership Summit was launched in order to put together all countries and key actors from Silk Road route to help in strengthening the links for trade and investment.

This major Forum was held at the Tang West Market- origin of Silk Road in Xi’an, Shaanxi, China from September 6th to September 8th, 2016 under the support of China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) and the Shaanxi International Chamber of Commerce. The SRCIC Collaboration and Development Conference was held from 6th to 7th September, 2016 at Tang West Market, Xi’an City, which historically was the very starting point of the ancient Silk Road. Hosted by China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) and Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (SRCIC), and supported by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the event provided a great opportunity for eminent political, business and financial leaders from countries along the Belt and Road Route to exchange insights and enhance connections.

Mr. George Abraham was invited by SRCIC to participate in the Forum. He was accompanied by the GA Group Associate Aquinas Law Alliance Managing Partner, Mr. Aloysius Wee.
