2017 Euro Asia Economic Forum

The Euro-Asia Economic Forum is a high-level and open international conference for the Euro-Asian region, with countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as the main body. Launched in 2005, the forum has been held successfully for six sessions and has become an important platform for the European and Asian countries to enhance mutual understanding, expand mutually beneficial cooperation and jointly promote the “Belt and Road” construction.

In order to accurately grasp the new pulse of the world economy, unite the Euro-Asian countries to develop new consensus, break obstacles and barriers to regional cooperation, strengthen policy coordination and docking of development strategy, and achieve coordinated development, 2017 Euro-Asia Economic Forum was held in Xi’an on September 21-23, 2017 under the theme of “co-building ‘Belt and Road’ for docking and coupling the development strategy”. Co-hosted by relevant Chinese ministries and commissions, international organizations and the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province, 2017 Euro-Asia Economic Forum adopted the structure pattern of “forum + exposition+ investment fair” and the main activities included the opening ceremony of the general assembly, 10 themed sessions for finance, culture, technology, ecology, agriculture, talent, education, geography, meteorology, tourism, round table conference of SCO local leaders, series of special supporting meetings, ” Belt and Road International Cooperation Capacity” Expo and Xi’an international investment and Trade Fair. Leaders of the Euro-Asian countries, ministers, local leaders, representatives of international organizations, heads of large enterprises and well-known experts and scholars, were invited to attend the forum. Mr. George Abraham in his capacity of Chairman, SME Development Council, Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce & Industry (CACCI) spoke about Opportunities in Trade & Investment for Asia in OBOR Region, discussing about current Chinese investments in ASEAN countries, increase in infrastructure demand, Collaboration between Chinese companies and SMEs in OBOR Region and opportunities for SMEs arising from OBOR
